Child Bright Foundation

childbrightfoundation

The CHILD BRIGHT FOUNDATION was created when adoptive father Gabriel Cid decided to visit Nepal to see how the Child Bright orphanage (from where a year earlier he had adopted his daughter) was coping with the global crisis.  What he found was 35 children and no food. On his return to Spain he set up the CHILD BRIGHT FOUNDATION, a non-profit organization whose main objective is to offer the children of Nepal who lack a stable home, the ability to develop physically, psychologically and emotionally and to enjoy the basic rights to shelter, nutrition, and education.

NepalDue to lack of funding many orphanages in Nepal have already been forced to close and children are then homeless, destined to live on the street making them vulnerable to abduction and abuse.  There is no state funding or state orphanages – for many children the only thing that stands between them and a life on the street is The CHILD BRIGHT FOUNDATION (www.childbright.org).

Today CHILD BRIGHT maintains three orphanages and looks after 118 children of which 87 are provided with a school education.  The youngest child that is cared for is just 6 weeks old and the oldest is 16.  The orphanages can now open their doors to offer help to some of the other small children that continue wandering the streets of Nepal.

The CHILD BRIGHT FOUNDATION, and the children it cares for, relies totally on donations to continue its work.  One of the most important things is that 100% of all donations are sent directly to Nepal.  None of the members who collaborate with the Foundation receive any remuneration, they are happy to volunteer their services to such an important cause.

“Childbright is an exceptional charity for two reasons.  Because it does exceptional work paying entirely 118 children in four orphanages in Kathmandu with children from two days old to 16 years old but it is exceptional mainly because 100% of the donations to Childbright go to Nepal to directly help the children.  There are no employees in Spain, no administration costs and the annual visit to monitor the work is paid for by Gabriel Cid (the founder) from his own pocket.  Fundraising is done by volunteers and all the childcare is done by Nepali employees – which means that in addition to helping the children we are also taking Nepali women out of poverty”, Carol Harrison, Volunteer.
