The Roger Fry Scholarships

King's College awards scholarships to pupils who wish to study in the Sixth Form at King's College, Soto de Viñuelas, Madrid.  In applying for these scholarships careful note should be taken of the following:

A. Reference

The reference of this scholarship is:  Sixth Form 2010-2012 and this should be quoted in any correspondence.

B. Studies offered

Two academic years' study, Lower and Upper Sixth Forms (English National  Curriculum years 12 & 13) in King's College, Soto de Viñuelas, Madrid.

C. Duration of scholarships

Two academic years (2010-2012).

D. Value of the Scholarship

Partial or total equivalent of all fees for both school years, all text books, school bus service and residence where applicable.  Under no circumstance will the scholarships be exchangeable for money.

E. Candidates who may apply

(a)  Pupils at British schools (or schools elsewhere following the English system) who intend starting  GCE 'A' Level studies in September 2010 having already passed GCSE or (I)GCSE examinations.
or
(b)  Pupils at an equivalent level in another educational system who take a competitive examination set by King's College Madrid.

F. Documentation

All applicants must submit an official King's College application form  as well as the Scholarship Application form

Additional information to be submitted by post before the closing date of Friday 4th June 2010:

1. A certificate from the candidate's present school showing qualifications obtained in Year 10 and Year 11 (latest report) of the "English National Curriculum"or equivalent.
At least 70% of the subjects should have the highest possible marks following internal evaluation.
The internal evaluation system used by the candidate's school must be explained.

2. Supporting documents from current school, club, association, etc. describing the candidate's extra-curricular activities, abilities and achievements. Possible activities may include sports, music, drama, community service, adventure activities, etc.


G. Documentation to be submitted by Monday 23rd August 2010 or immediately after publication of results

Official (I)GCSE equivalent results slip (photocopies by Notary or  carrying current school stamp) for all pupils in English system.   
            or
Official end-of-year results for 2009/2010 for pupils not currently in the English system.

I. Selection Committe

All candidates' applications will be considered by a selection committee set up by King's College.

J. Criteria

The committee will consider all aspects of the candidate's application and will apply these weightings to GCSE or IGCSE results.

A personal interview may also be required.  From the accumulated data the Committee  will select candidates and decide on the percentage scholarship to offer.

K. Final decision

Once a final decision has been made, successful candidates will be informed before 15th July 2010.  For pupils in the British system, final confirmation rests on their official (I)GCSE results in August.

Unsuccessful candidates will be notified in writing before 1st September.

L. Scholarships are not transferable

M. No suitable applicant

If in the opinion of the selection committee there are no suitable applicants, no  scholarships will be awarded.

N. Cancellation

In the event of "force majeur" prior to the award of the scholarships, King's College  reserves the right to cancel the award process.
"Force majeur" is defined as any event outside the control of King's College which  would make the provision of scholarships impossible.
